wasteLAnd Summer Academy

The wasteLAnd Summer Academy in the L.A. Arts District of Los Angeles makes it possible for eight young composers aged 18–25 from a variety of countries of origin to further train in June 2019 for one week in one-to-one tuition, workshops, mutual presentation and joint discussions already ahead of submitted compositions. Supported by the EvS Music Foundation the academy will be directed by composer Brian Griffeath-Loeb. Following the work phases involving New York composer Michael Pisaro as well as musicians from the WasteLAnd Collective ensemble the works will be premiered in a concert series performed by the ensemble. Among other things the wasteLAnd Summer Academy has also set itself the long-term aim of further consolidating and extending the contemporary music scene in Los Angeles which is relatively young compared to New York or other East Coast cities in America.
