Mixtur 2018

Associació Col.lectiu Mixtur, Santa Coloma de Gramenet (Barcelona), Spain

Mixtur was founded in Barcelona in 2012 by the non-profit organization Col.lectiu Mixtur with the aim of promoting the spread of contemporary music and sound art. The most important activities are channeled here into Festival Mixtur, an event that regularly offers concerts, sound installations, conferences and workshops. The workshop for composition and sound experiments held as part of the festival in 2018 is being supported by the EvS Music Foundation. It is aimed at composition students and is divided into two modules each featuring three composers serving as lecturers as well as three invited ensembles. As part of the workshop in each module participants are given the opportunity to experience one-to-one tuition as well as a reading session with one of the ensembles on the basis of a specially created composition; likewise, each student can take part in six master classes per module. Here it is also planned to integrate a small composition of each of the students into the official festival program. In the first module the guest composers expected are Carola Bauckholt, João Pedro Oliveira and Rebecca Saunders with the French ensemble 2e2m, Norwegian duo Hellqvist/Amaral and Germany’s Zafraan Ensemble; expected in the second module are the guest composers Gabriel Brnčić, Tristan Murail and Alexander Schubert with the Spanish soloist Ricardo Descalzo as well as the Spanish ensemble Frames Percussion and Austria’s Ensemble Phace.
