8 composition commissions for Acht Brücken

ACHT BRÜCKEN | Musik für Köln 2013 – Musik Triennale Cologne, Germany

Succeeding Cologne’s MusikTriennale Köln, May 2013 will for the third time now see the holding of the new festival Acht Brücken | Musik für Köln: running from April 29 to May 12, 2013. Acht Brücken is an international festival focusing on electronics in music featuring an acclaimed line-up. The event was called into existence to mark the 75th anniversary of the invention of the Z1 computer by Konrad Zuse and the huge impact the computer has had on people’s everyday lives throughout the world since then.
The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is supporting selected composition commissions that cover a varied aesthetic spectrum: the festival line-up includes York Höller and Robert HP Platz, two Cologne composers enjoying international acclaim for decades now, Michael Beil, Wolfgang Mitterer and Markus Schmickler who represent a mid-generation and  the Russians Dmitri Kourliandski and Vladimir Gorlinsky as well as Lisa Streich who finally represent a very young generation of promising composers in the field of electronic music. To provide the best possible conditions for the premieres first-class performers have been enlisted for ACHT BRÜCKEN 2013: Ensemble Resonanz (Hamburg) as well as the Ensemble Modern (Frankfurt), musikFabrik (Cologne) and the young Ensemble Nadar (Antwerp).
