Missa Est. The 12th international A·DEvantgarde-Festival

ADEvantgarde e.V., Munich, Germany

The A·DEvantgarde festival for New Music sees itself as a platform for current developments in contemporary chamber music beyond the mainstream – a festival  that places the works of (young) local composers in an international context. The motto of the 12th edition of the festival is "Missa Est" and spans an arc from the club ambiance of the Rote Sonne venue to the sacred space of St Ludwig’s Church (Ludwigskirche) and from noise music to tonal ascetics while allowing an encounter between highly divergent musical stances. The six events of the festival are all held over one compact weekend that, in a variety of ways, explores the dogmas and passions that still or again impact today’s composers. And here the order of the day is always: do not just voice an opinion but take a stance.

The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is supporting composition commissions issued to Markus Schmitt, Oscar Strasnoy, Ernst Bechert, Malte Burba, Dieter Dolezel, Hans Huyssen, Jan Müller-Wieland, Markus Münch, Helga Pogatschar, Stefan Schulzki, Jörg Widmann, Alexander Strauch, Gordon Kampe, Ruby Fulton, Volker Nickel, Johannes X. Schachtner, Rudi Spring and Manfred Stahnke as part of the festival.
