Clarinet festival "Carte blanche III" female sounds

Förderverein Temnitzkirche e.V., Netzeband, Germany

In its third year the clarinet festival "Carte blanche III" focuses on female composers. The 20th/21st century has brought numerous female artists to the fore like Kaja Saariaho, Olga Neuwirth, Rebecca Saunders or Zeynep Gedizlioglu who have written works for line-ups with clarinet/bass clarinet. Built in 1834 and renovated in the 1990s the church Temnitzkirche serves here not only for rehearsals but also as an unconventional concert venue. The Temnitzkirche not only offers musicians and the audience a special acoustic experience but also opens up opportunities for artists from other fields to "net(z)-work" with music. In 2014 Swiss media artist Chantal Michel has been given "carte blanche" at Netzeband. She is primarily known for her photography, video installations and live performance but also for large installations like those at Schloss Kiesen or Villa Gerber where she organizes for visitors experiences for all the senses. Musician and composer Claudio Puntin will write music for Michel’s video installations. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is supporting the clarinet festival in 2014.
