String Quartet Concert in Memory of Hans Werner Henze

Munich Biennale/Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts/Association of German String Quartets, Munich

“Anyone wishing to understand my development would do well to consider my music from its beginnings,” wrote Hans Werner Henze who died in the fall of 2012. The five string quartets span the first half of his creative life. At the Munich Biennale over one evening they will be performed in collaboration with the Association of German String Quartets by five renowned ensembles – to be held at the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts on May 14, 2014. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is supporting the Hans Werner Henze memorial concert with the Auryn Quartet, the Diogenes Quartet, the Henschel Quartet, the Minguet Quartet and the Vogler Quartet who will each input their own perspective on the work of the great composer.
