10th International Festival for Contemporary Organ Music

Kunst-Station Sankt Peter, Cologne, Germany

In 2004 Sinzig organist and composer Peter Bares brought to Cologne an organ for New Music with over 100 organ stops, striking mechanisms, wind pressure attenuators and key locking mechanisms. Kunst-Station Sankt Peter, a venue for contemporary art and New Music established 25 years ago, pursues an exclusive musical program of independent contemporary music: in 2014 the festival “orgel-mixturen – International Festival for Contemporary Organ Music” will be celebrating its tenth anniversary. Between October 5 and 10, 2014 it will include not only a symposium and various lectures but also concerts featuring works by Martin Schüttler (premiere), who is the Composer-in-Residence this year, Adriana Hölszky, Jonathan Harvey, Carola Bauckholt and many others. This, the 10th edition of orgel-mixturen, supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, sees the festival – successfully serving the field of contemporary organ music for a decade now – coming to a provisional end.
