27. Tage Neuer Musik in Weimar: Frankreich – Deutschland

Already since the early 1990s Weimar’s new music festival Tage Neuer Musik Weimar fostered intense exchange with musicians and music makers from France. By choosing Germany – France as its theme this exchange is now to be deepened further. With the support of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation at this year’s festival a portrait concert will be dedicated to Messiaen’s student Allain Gaussin (*1943) whose works have been featured at the festival on numerous occasions. At this concert Gaussin will collaborate with German musicians and also deliver his poetic texts. On Francis Dhomont’s 88^th birthday a concert is planned featuring compositions written between 1984 and 2006. Since 2005 Dhomont has been honorary patron of the contemporary music festival Klang Projekte Weimar e. V. and has already given several seminars there for composition students. Himself working in France for 10 years, Hans Tutschku (Harvard University, Boston) produced recordings in Summer 2013 with violoncellist Séverin Ballon at IRCAM in Paris and developed models that he premiered under the heading Klangkörper (Bodies of Sound) as part of a Violoncello & Live-Elektronikconcert – and this will now be performed alongside works by Kaija Saariaho, Iannis Xenakis, Shintaro Imai and Georges Aperghis. There will be a further Franco-German cooperation in the Objects sonores program where the 33-year-old Ensemble für Intuitive Musik Weimar (EFIM) will make reference to sound objects by Olivier Toulemonde.
