Bühnenmusik-Biennale 2014 Lyon

GRAME – National Center for new music, Lyon, France

Musiques en Scène is a three weeks French event dedicated to contemporary music by GRAME – national center for new music Lyon. In 2014, the Biennale will explore one of the most iconic shapes of the recent evolution of the Internet: the cloud! Cloud and mist have certainly always had a special place in the history of art and ideas.
"Cloud" is meant in that context as "network", as remote performances, as discovery of new artistic forms based on the special use of new technology. Thus, emphasis is given to interdisciplinary works, promoting the creation and remote musical networks. This is also one of the main characteristics of Heiner Goebbels’ musical identity. He usually works at the crossroads of all practices. After Peter Eötvös (2008), Kaija Saariaho (2010 ), Michael Jarrell (2012) , Heiner Goebbels will be the 2014 edition "guest composer”.  Extraordinary assembler of worlds and builder of fugitive and artistic kaleidoscopes, Heiner Goebbels plays with music, but rarely without text or explosive images: a sound, textual and visual alchemy.
In addition, important insights will be given to the pieces of Rebecca Saunders (symphonic concert, chamber and solo music concerts, conference) for their ability to reveal the instrumental and sound "space", operating on the notions of staging of the musicians in the performing space. The sound and visual artist Ulf Langheinrich will also get a special importance in the programs of the festival.
