SALT – New Music Festival and Symposium

SALT New Music Festival and Symposium, Victoria, Canada

For a whole week regionally and internationally active artists, performers and composers will meet together under the banner of the SALT Festival in British Columbia. Showcasing themselves and their work in concerts and master classes they create a regular forum for the development and research of contemporary music in the Canadian city of Victoria. Supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation in 2015 the festival focuses specifically on the human voice. The Neue Vokalsolisten Stuttgart, Sylvie Lacroix from Vienna and Canadian Roger Admiral have been invited to perform new works for voice, piano and ensemble by Georg Friedrich Haas, José Maria Sanchez-Verdú, Samir Odeh Tamimi, Mark Andre, Charles-Antoine Fréchette, Annesley Black and Justin Christensen. The concerts will be accompanied by workshops and talks on the individual works held by the performers and composers themselves. Musicologists Jonathan Goldman and Jörn Peter Hiekel will give talks on the significance of voice in the music of the 21st century.
