DIALOGE 2014: Composition Commission awarded to Peter Eötvös

The theme of this year’s DIALOGE festival is ‘Wort’ or word – in particular the relationship between words and music. Three composers are central in the exploration of this theme at DIALOGE 2014: Peter Eötvös, György Ligeti and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. 
By issuing a composition commission to Peter Eötvös, funded by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, the foundation Stiftung Mozarteum wishes to strengthen the exploration of those Mozart fragments in its own collection. Since 2005 it has issued composition commissions for which incomplete Mozart fragments serve as a point of departure thereby promoting present day appreciation of Mozart’s music at different levels. Several already existing Eötvös’ works explore not only the relationship between words and music but specifically Mozart’s correspondence (Korrespondenz, 1992) and these works will be suitably featured in the concert program of this year’s DIALOGE. 
The DIALOGE program will be supplemented by spoken voice concerts, a music and literature café, introductory lectures and the chance for interactive chat on the impressions gained – also between visitors who do not know each other.
