The concerts grandioses are three concerts each with two premieres, one for ensemble and one for orchestra. RSO Wien and Klangforum Wien will feature on stage together at the musikprotokoll festival.
The works combine the tonal sensitivity of orchestra with the subtleties of an ensemble-like collective of soloists to forge a virtually new, contemporary and luxurious genre of music for ensemble and symphony orchestra. The composers involved are Agata Zubel from Poland, Marko Nikodijevic from Serbia, Eva Reiter, Bernd Richard Deutsch and Matthias Kranebitter from Austria and Zeynep Gedizlioğlu from Turkey. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is supporting the composition commissions issued to Deutsch, Nikodijevic and Gedizlioğlu.
