Controtempo 2015 – Festival for Contemporary Music

French Academy – Villa Medici, Rome

Since the early 19^th century the delightfully situated Villa Medici in Rome has opened its doors to artists from a variety of genres – including composers.
Held for the last six years under the direction of composer Yann Robin the Controtempo Festival for Contemporary Music focuses this year on Georges Aperghis. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is supporting the festival also to be attended by Aperghis himself who will present work only rarely performed in Italy until now. The festival, which will once again also feature numerous premieres in its line-up in 2015, also aims to serve as a platform for young artists, this year including such names as France’s Quatuor Béla and Italian composer Clara Ianotta.
