Firenze Suona Contemporanea – Aprire Venere

The title of this year’s festival Firenze Suona Contemporanea heads an essay by Georges Didi-Huberman: Ouvrir Vénus. Nudité, rêve, cruauté (Opening Venus. Nudity, Dream, Cruelty). Didi-Huberman juxtaposes Boticelli’s work with a strong counter image – the opened female body – and indeed at this year’s festival, that is supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, the focus is also on the perception of fine art and contemporary art through the filter of female experience.
Perception of time, aesthetic spaces of the present and the past and, against this backdrop, the question as to the possibilities of art, all form the core of this year’s festival. This year FLAME aims to answer this question together with ensembles and artists like the Alter Ego Ensemble, Tempo Reale, the Nordic Voices, 7090 ensemble, Kammeroper Frankfurt, the pianist Pi-Hsien Chen, the soprano Giulia Peri, the guitarist Lucia d'Errico and numerous world famous composers – including Pierre Boulez and Fausto Romitelli. Furthermore, several Italian composers of the young generation will be participating in the festival.
