Tanglewood Music Center – 75th Anniversary Performances

Boston Symphony Orchestra, USA

The Tanglewood Music Center (TMC) now looks back on a history of over 70 years of contemporary music that began with the commitment of Aaron Copland and Paul Hindemith in 1940. Every summer the TMC presents nearly 150 very promising young performers, conductors and composers who work intensively together over a period of eight weeks with the musicians of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. In 2015 the TMC will once again be supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. This year, too, the TMC will be offering a series of concerts featuring TMC fellows, TMC faculty members, the New Fromm Players (an in-house ensemble for New Music in which TMC graduates also play) and prominent guest musicians. In 2015 five composers and conductors will be playing a special role: Michael Gandolfi, John Harbison, Oliver Knussen as well as Stefan Asbury and Michael Tilson Thomas. This year their concerts will be honoring Gunther Schuller. Furthermore, numerous works will be premiered reflecting the 75-year history of the TMC.

July 20, 24 – 27, 2015
Tanglewood, Seiji Ozawa Hall
