Conference Music in Scene – Scenes in Music. Interdisciplinary Aspects of Music Appreciation

mica – music information center austria

Supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation the conference “Musik in Szene – Szenen in Musik, Interdisziplinäre Aspekte der Musikvermittlung” will be held at Salzburg’s Mozarteum University from 2/26 – 2/28/2015. The conference wishes to make practical knowledge in the different disciplines accessible for music educators allowing participants to discuss commonalities and differences in methods and approaches. The forum therefore serves to sound out cross connections and references as well as open up the network through to other art fields and to their appreciation and discourses. A World Café and a marketplace provide the space for personal and content-related exchange. Application-oriented workshops from different fields of appreciation/education, lectures and discussions attempt to explore questions such as: What is “interdisciplinarity”? What does “interdisciplinary” mean?

Target groups of the conference are “institutionalized” music educators (concert houses, orchestras etc.) as well as “freelance” ones along with music teachers at schools.
