Akademien für zeitgenössische Musik 2010

oenm. Österreichisches Ensemble für Neue Musik

After the first successful oenm academy held by the Austrian Ensemble for Contemporary Music (Österreichisches Ensemble für Neue Musik – oenm) in 2007 as well as the current, extended academies in 2009 the oenm is also continuing its collaboration with the Mozarteum University in Salzburg in 2010 organizing a three-part academy for students of instrumental music, conducting and composition. In the academy for composers supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation works for composition students are "tried out", discussed and further developed in oenm rehearsals and several selected works are then presented in a public concert. Together with a professional ensemble and under the baton of an experienced conductor as well as two internationally acclaimed composers the students have the opportunity to work in a practice-oriented manner and to rehearse under ideal conditions. At the end of the academy a work is selected or the student receives a composition commission for a new piece which is then incorporated into the program of the academies for conductors and students of instrumental music held in the following year.
