Master Classes with Wolfgang Rihm and the Arditti Quartet

Wolfgang Rihm and the Arditti Quartet will visit Kingston University for three days where they will discuss and workshop eight new works for string quartet selected from the International Call for New Work for String Quartet 2010 at Coombehurst Studio in the Department of Music, Kingston University London. The Arditti Quartet will perform two of these works in a public concert alongside recent work by Wolfgang Rihm. The concert is a co-production between Kingston University and BBC Radio 3, and will form part of BBC Symphony Orchestra's festival "Total Immersion: Wolfgang Rihm" to be recorded for later transmission on the BBC Radio 3 "Hear and Now" program. The International Call for New Work for String Quartet 2010 is open to composers of any age and is aimed at postgraduate students, postdoctoral fellows and composers at the beginning of their professional career.
