Soziotop Neue Musik

Contemporary music is not only an aesthetic phenomenon. Composing, performing and listening to New Music, its networks, groupings and forms of identification also mark out a social space, a sociotope in which agents move and act. The three-day academic "Soziotop Neue Musik" symposium aims to chart the field of contemporary music and develop descriptive models for comprehending the social dimension of contemporary music. To develop and enlarge upon the issues raised in the symposium a publication on the contributions is planned to coincide with the event along with an Internet presence at www.soziotop-neue-musik.de.
