Symposium: New Music. New Audience?

The “Neue Musik. Neue Öffentlichkeit” symposium is devoted to exploring potential new audiences for New Music. Unlike in the field of fine art, since Schönberg it has not been possible to generate enthusiasm for new tendencies in music across a broad-based audience. The symposium therefore aims to look into this issue and ascertain New Music’s position here. As part of the symposium composition commissions for organ plus a free choice of instruments will be issued by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation.
