Young Euro Classic. Musikakademie Südkaukasus

Deutscher Freundeskreis europäischer Jugendorchester e.V.

The South Caucasus Music Academy (Musikakademie Süd-Kaukasus) held as part of the festival Young Euro Classic will bring together in musical workshops young musicians from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia who relate to each other in a particularly exciting way due to their differing origins thereby facilitating and promoting joint music-making. Young musicians from Germany will also be participating. The work program centers on classical and romantic chamber music. Furthermore, works by contemporary composers like Tigran Mansurian and Awet Terterjan from Armenia, Frangis Ali Sade and Faradsch Karajew from Azerbaijan as well as Gia Kantscheli from Georgia will also be developed. A third part of the project looks at composers from the focal countries. Here commissions for chamber music compositions will be issued with the support of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation: Narine Khatchatryan (Armenia), Elmir Mirzoev (Azerbaijan) Archil Giorgobiani (Georgia) and Hauke Berheide (Germany). The academy’s concert presentation comprises a symphony concert as well as four chamber music events as part of the Young Euro Classic festival to be held in August 2011 at the Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin.
