Composition Commission issued to Viera Janárčeková

Slovak composer Viera Janárčeková is currently a stipend recipient of the international artists’ house Villa Concordia in Bamberg. Non-profit association kombinaTON commissioned the composer to write a new work for the Zusammenklang project with the support of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation – a work that is intended to be premiered at a concert evening planned by her. The performing body of musicians will be a project orchestra consisting of an equal line-up of musicians from the Bamberg Symphonic Orchestra – Bavarian State Philharmonic and students from Würzburg Music Academy. Professionals and students will sit side by side at shared music stands. This means the up-and-coming musicians will be able to gather orchestra experience working alongside musicians from one of the most acclaimed orchestras in Germany. The composer will also collaborate on a concert introduction with the music and culture research initiative Institut Denkunternehmung and students from Bamberg University.
