Composition Commission for the Re-Inauguration of the Organ at St. Michael’s Church

The organ at St. Michael’s in Munich was silent for over a year while it was being renovated and extended. A two-week concert cycle in fall 2011 will celebrate the organ’s re-inauguration. As part of the this cycle with the support of the EvS Music Foundation a piece of work by Philipp Maintz will be performed that was especially written for the organ’s specificities at St. Michael’s – a piece that also includes the Munich Bach Choir. The work is to be a symphonic sketch of the choral O Mensch bewein dein Sünde groß from Bach’s Orgelbüchlein.
