Adventures in Sound – Six Contemporary Concerts

London Sinfonietta

Placing contemporary music at the heart of today’s culture – the London Sinfonietta has set itself no lesser mission. Here the ensemble often takes risks to discover and promote totally unknown talents. In the 2011 concert season this will take the form of a series of six contemporary concerts – funded by the EvS Music Foundation. Kicking off will be one of Beat Furrer’s most played works: Nuun now to make its debut in Great Britain. This will be followed by two concerts featuring works by Thomas Adès – one combined with compositions by Steve Reich and the other with works by Gerald Barry. In two other concerts the audience will be presented compositions by Iannis Xenakis and Louis Andriessen before the series closes with Pavilions, a mini festival for contemporary music including installations, panel discussions and music by British composers.

January to May 2011
London, Glasgow and Birmingham, Great Britain
