Monaco Concerto

Orgelpunkt, Icking

The three-movement work entitled Monaco Concerto was commissioned by the “Europäische Orgelfestival 2011” and thus also reflects, if nothing else, a “European dimension”. However, the basic idea of the EvS Music Foundation funded concert project is to give a secular, cheerfully ironic meaning to the organ alongside its primarily sacred connection. Furthermore, local Bavarian color is to be added with references to familiar Munich melodies such as the Munich Town Hall carillon or the well-known “Alter Peter” as well as the inclusion of folk music instruments. New Music, traditional techniques and folklore elements enter into a both perceptive and pleasant synthesis. In this work the organ can display its entire range of wide possibilities.
