Trumpet Late Night

Fritz Geißler Gesellschaft e.V.

The Trumpet Late Night aims to provide a look at the development and status of contemporary music with a specific focus on the trumpet. Thanks to its flexibility, rich harmonics, extreme dynamism, sounds, glissandi and much more the trumpet is a highly interesting instrument for contemporary composers. As part of the event organized with the support of the EvS Music Foundation works by aspiring composers from the German region of Saxony as well as pieces by composers of international acclaim are to be played – including premieres of works by Thuon Burtevitz, Michael Flade and Hana Ajiashvili as well as pieces by Rebecca Saunders, Liza Lim, Mark Andre and Ellliott Carter. It has been possible to enlist one of the world’s best trumpeters William Forman to perform at the Trumpet Late Night.
