Wien Modern 2011 – Schwerpunkt Friedrich Cerha

In 2011 Friedrich Cerha will be celebrating his 85^th birthday. This is occasion enough for the Wien Modern festival to feature the Austrian composer in a comprehensive focus. With the support of the EvS Music Foundation Wien Modern wishes to make an in-depth exploration of Cerha’s works while also presenting this major Austrian composer to a new audience. In cooperation with Cerha himself exemplary pieces from his body of work will be played as well as Austrian premieres and a debut performance. The works will be played by ensembles which have accompanied the composer on his path of artistic creativity or which he in fact founded, as is the case with Klangforum Wien. The festival program not least also features Cerha’s pupils including Georg Friedrich Haas and Gerd Kühr.
