24. Tage Neuer Musik in Weimar

Klang Projekte Weimar e.V.

The Tage Neuer Musik festival in Weimar is the oldest contemporary music festival in Thuringia. In 2011 it focuses on “playing forms of improvised and electro-acoustic music”. Six concerts are planned approaching the theme of the festival in different ways. This in turn should make clear that Weimar’s traditions are also rooted in New Music – it was here that 150 years ago under the patronage of Franz Liszt the “Allgemeiner Deutscher Musikverein” or German General Music Association was founded as the first organization propagating contemporary music. The EvS Music Foundation is funding the concert by the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart at the 24thedition of the Tage Neuer Musik festival. Here works by Sandeep Bhagwati, Andreas Dohmen, Hans Tutschku (Premiere) and Jennifer Walshe will be performed. In addition to the concert with the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart the program also includes Stockhausen’s POLE für 2, an improvisational concert, a long night of improvisation “Lange Nacht der Improvisation” as well as portrait concerts featuring electro-acoustic music by composers Annette vande Gorne and Francis Dhomont.
