Workshops for Five European-South American Composers

Transart Festival, Bolzano

Thanks to funding from the EvS Music Foundation 2009 already saw initial cooperation with the Orquesta Experimental de Instrumentos Nativos (OEIN) from Bolivia at the Transart Festival and at Klangspuren Schwaz in 2009. Once again with support from the EvS Music Foundation the collaboration can now be furthered. To mark the OEIN’s 30th anniversary an initial five composers – Beat Furrer, Mesias Meiguashca, Alejandro Cardona, Carlos Gutiérres Quiroga and Miguel Llanque – will participate in workshops entitled “Inca Playing Culture as a Reflection of Contemporary Music” in La Paz, Bolivia to familiarize themselves with the OEIN’s playing techniques and different instruments and to both exchange and develop these with their own artistic approaches. Carlos Gutiérres Quiroga and Miguel Llanque are two talented, up-and-coming composers at OEIN to be sponsored here. In a second part of the project workshop results will be presented on a European tour – amongst others at the Transart Festival.
