Composition Commissions to Alexandra Filonenko, Tobias PM Schneid and Vladimir Rannev

Deutscher Freundeskreis europäischer Jugendorchester e. V., Berlin, Germany

July 29th 2012 – the first Sunday of the Young Euro Classic 2012 festival – sees the holding of a music symposium at the Berlin concert hall Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt to highlight this musical festival dedicated to the different forms of music presentation. Within the context of all Young Euro Classic projects it is contemporary music, i.e. the creative work of young composers of our day, that plays an important role.
Forming the core and focal point of the music symposium are three concerts by the choir “ensemberlino vocale” under the baton of Ralph Sochaczewsky together with six instrumentalists. The choir project concentrates on a musical approach and new exploration of J.S. Bach. In a 3-day academy phase the musicians and singers will develop a program juxtaposing contemporary compositions with works by Johann Sebastian Bach and old masters like Heinrich Schütz and Claudio Monteverdi. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation has issued commissions for the three works to the young Russian and German composers Alexandra Filonenko, Vladimir Rannev and Tobias PM Schneid.
