Ostertournee 2012

Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, Wien, Austria

To mark its 25th anniversary in 2012 the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra (GMJO) will, with the support of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, be organizing an Easter Tour with two concert programs featuring works by Wagner, Shostakovich, Webern, Zimmermann and Scriabin. After three successful European tours the GMJO has managed to enlist Ingo Metzmacher, one of the most convincing facilitators and performers  of the symphonic repertoire of the 20th and 21st century.
Under his baton it has in the past been possible to  perform classics of the modern age like K.A. Hartmann’s Gesangszene (with Matthias Goerne), Igor Stravinsky’s Violin Concerto (with Leonidas Kavakos) and Olivier Messiaen’s  Les Offrandes Oubliées – and latterly also Olga Neuwirth’s trumpet concerto Miramondo Multiplo with its dedicatee Hakan Hardenberger as a soloist.
