Internationale Orgelwoche Nürnberg – Musica Sacra, Germany

In tandem with a major Dürer exhibition at the Germanisches Nationalmuseum the 2012 year of culture in Nuremberg also features a focus on Dürer.

With the support of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, Nuremberg International Organ Week (ION) asked the five composers Nelida Bejar (Spain), Minas Borboudakis (Greece), Markus Lehmann-Horn (Germany), Viera Janárčeková (Czech Republic) and Tobias PM Schneid (Germany) to compose a short organ piece inspired by the woodcuts in Dürer’s “Life of the Virgin”. The premiere of all five works is planned as part of the midday concerts to be performed from July 2nd to 6th on the Klais Organ in the Frauenkirche (Church of our Lady). Performers for the five premieres will be five young prize-winners of international organ competitions.

July 2nd to 6th 2012, on each day at 12.15 pm
Frauenkirche, Hauptmarkt, Nuremberg
