World Wide Visions - Composition commissions issued to Marko Nikodijevic, Jagoda Szmytka and Brigitta Muntendorf

Ensemble Garage e.V., Cologne, Germany

The three young composers Marko Nikodijevic, Jagoda Szmytka and Brigitta Muntendorf are united by a vision of New Music in which activities, performance, the multimedia, electronic music and theatricality are incorporated to equal extents. Through three staged premieres supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation Ensemble Garage wishes to formulate a synergetic reflection of their different stances by means of these elements. A central focus of the works presented in World Wide Visions lies in the equality demanded for all performance vehicles used. Therefore, the variety of the works is to be scenically bound and framed as a holistic concept through a production care of director Thierry Brühl. Unlike purely musical concerts this concert format requires a dramaturgy where even individual processes and the movements of the musicians feature at the forefront. For the initial concert phase so far three performances have been planned for September 2012 – to be held at the Gare du Nord in Basel, the small hall at Theaterhaus Stuttgart as well as at the Robert-Schumann-Saal in Düsseldorf.
