Brücken 2012

Verein für Neue Musik Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany

2012 will see the “Brücken” New Music Festival being held in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern for the eighth time now. In line with the motto of the event series the organizers – the new music society Verein für Neue Musik M.-V., the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern arm of the German Composers’ Association (Deutscher Komponistenverband) and HMT Rostock – pursue the aim of creating links between composers, performers and the audience.
With the support of the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation this will also be the case in 2012 thanks to the variety of different events, concerts, lectures, discussion forums and courses. As Composer-in-Residence world-renowned composer Peter Ruzicka has confirmed his involvement. In an international master class he will give young composers the chance to present and discuss their works. The Minguet Quartet will play all of Ruzicka’s works for string quartet as well as perform Rihm and Widmann’s works for clarinet and string quartet along with composer and clarinetist Jörg Widmann. In a recital young pianist Sophie-Mayuko Vetter will also present Ruzicka’s work for piano.
Collaboration with the regional composing scene via the Rostock ensemble mv-connect has already enjoyed a long tradition. For this reason, two of the ensemble’s concerts at this year’s festival will also feature members of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern regional arm of the German Composers’ Association.

November 25th to December 2nd 2012
