Portrait Helmut Lachenmann

Internationale Weingartner Tage für Neue Musik 2012, Germany

The New Music festival Internationale Weingartner Tage für Neue Musik was initiated in 1986 by the pianist Rita Jans who teaches at the Pädagogische Hochschule Weingarten. Every year a famous composer is invited to Weingarten who is present over these three days to showcase his or her work at various events. The presence of the composer and the close collaboration with festival management give the event special appeal for the audience as this makes it possible to enter into debate with the composer about their musical work performed in Weingarten as well as their compositional method and music approach. It is primarily the work with pupils and students during the lecture recital focalizing questions of interpretation that is particularly popular with the audience. In 2012 the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation will be supporting the festival with a portrait on the composer Helmut Lachenmann.

November 16th – 18th 2012
