Tagung "Ans Licht gebracht. Interpretation von Musik heute"

Institut für Neue Musik und Musikerziehung e.V., Darmstadt, Germany

The Institut für Neue Musik und Musikerziehung Darmstadt promotes contemporary music across all genres and its appreciation through education. The thematic spectrum here ranges from the tradition of the compositional avant-garde to tonal art, performance, new media and cross-genre concepts through to improvisation, jazz and the music of youth cultures.

The most important and also least explored areas of contemporary music involve the issue of musical interpretation. This dimension, seen both as a verbal approach and as musical implementation, is put into the limelight in a multifaceted manner by the 66th INMM Darmstadt Spring Conference under the heading “Ans Licht gebracht. Interpretation von Musik heute” (Brought into the Light. Interpretation of Music Today) which is supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. Participating in the conference discussions, workshops and concerts are acclaimed composers like Brian Ferneyhough, Rebecca Saunders, Johannes Schöllhorn and Hans Zender alongside renowned scholars and educationalists.
