Composition Commission issued to Sven-Ingo Koch

Vogler Quartett/Tim Vogler, Berlin, Germany

For 30 years now the Vogler Quartet has proven itself to be a versatile performer of New Music. Premieres and the constant presence of New Music in almost all concert programs and festivals decisively impact its artistic profile.
With the support of the EvS Music Foundation the quartet will be issuing a composition commission to Sven-Ingo Koch. In joint rehearsals with the composer the ensemble will carefully study the new work in order to present it as part of the concert series at Konzerthaus Berlin. It will also be performed at Homberg’s international chamber music festival “Internationale Kammermusiktage Homburg” and the quartet’s concert series in Neubrandenburg.
Composer Sven-Ingo Koch impresses the audience with the “talking” and touching music of his oboe quintet nostalgia. His music is very personal and possesses its very own, in no way sensation-seeking language. And although it is totally new, it still conveys a connection to traditional music and the great masterpieces of the past.
