Dialogues with Latin America

Trio Morelia, Morelia, Mexico

Since 2006, Trio Morelia has been elaborating its project Dialogues with Latin America which is devoted to promoting the creation of a new repertoire by Latin American composers, to then present these works in concerts in Mexico and abroad, alongside important contemporary compositions from Europe, the USA, and Asia. To date, Trio Morelia has performed 23 world premieres and 37 national premieres of the new compositions.
Supported by the EvS Music Foundation, this year’s project will encompass a series of 12 concerts, half of these devoted to Mexican music and the other half to international composers. Although several concerts will be performed in the nation’s established concert halls, a great number of these activities are to be presented in cities unaccustomed to any regular presence of new and contemporary music, thus enriching the cultural life of many parts of the country. In order to allow the public to familiarize themselves with contemporary music, all concerts will be free of charge.
This season, there will be Mexican national premieres by Wolfgang Rihm, Matthias Pintscher, Dai Fujikura, Morton Feldman, Pauline Oliveros, Mauricio Sotelo, Johannes Maria Staud, Harrison Birtwistle and Alejandro Guarello, world premieres by the Mexican composers Ignacio Martinez Madrigal, Gerhadt Muench, Eduardo Solis, Luis Cortez and David Hernandez Ramos as well as other contemporary repertoires from Mexico and Latin America by Jorge Dajer, Manuel Enriquez, Mario Lavista, Hector Quintanar, Mario Stern, Javier Torres Maldonado and Hilda Paredes.
