Stockhausen Concerts and Courses Kürten

Stockhausen Stiftung für Musik, Kürten, Germany

Karlheinz Stockhausen's works not only place the highest demands on the performers on a musical level, but also frequently require precisely prescribed movements, choreographies or scenic actions. This kind of performance practice is often an entirely new experience scarcely ever taught at music conservatories. This gap is filled by the 9-day Stockhausen Concerts and Courses Kürten, made possible by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. In master classes, renowned Stockhausen specialists teach the playing techniques developed with the composer and pass on their experience from working with Stockhausen. Those attending the courses are not just music students, but also lecturers and professors continuing their training in Kürten so they can then convey what they have learned back in their home countries and universities. In the evening concerts, Stockhausen's works are presented under optimal conditions for authentic performances of the highest quality. Featured in addition to the master classes and concerts, are public rehearsals, lectures, seminars, an exhibition of the Stockhausen Archive holdings and a study room with all Stockhausen CDs, scores, DVDs and books.
