Composition Commission issued to Gordon Kampe

To mark the opening of the Bayreuth cycle Ring 20.21, a work of music theater inspired by the motifs of Richard Wagner's Das Rheingold is being commissioned. Composer Gordon Kampe is also assuming the musical direction of this premiere, performed in the open air in the Festspielpark and staged by Nikolaus Habjan. The action takes place after the Twilight of the Gods at the burning of Valhalla: The survivors of the catastrophe, Erda, Loge and the Rhinemaidens summarize the events. Arsonist Loge is accused and must stand trial, while Erda is both judge and plaintiff. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is making possible the composition commission issued to Gordon Kampe.
