Concert Series Acts ‘n Sounds 2021

Ensemble Garage, Cologne, Germany

In November 2019, Ensemble Garage launched its new concert series Acts ‘n Sounds in Cologne, performing in a house shortly to be demolished in Cologne’s Südstadt district. In 2021, the ensemble explores contemporary and socially relevant themes on the Cologne music and art scene, such as questioning and dissolving the binarity of gender or the question of reality and fiction in media content. François Sarhan’s new composition L’oreille droite (premiere, 2020), a full-length music theater for six musicians and live video, is a joint project of this French composer and director and Ensemble Garage. Heinrich Horwitz is also developing a concert evening: Frau Musica Nova, in which the binarity of gender is dissolved and a place of diversity is invented with a new self-image. The final concert program focuses on ensemble compositions that explore different concepts of time. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is making the ensemble’s concert series possible.
