Inselmusik Concert Series for New Music

Verein für Neue Musik Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Rostock, Germany

The concert series Inselmusik creates musical islands – events focalizing contemporary music in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The first concert project KOMPONISTENINSEL (Composers' Island) presents composers from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as performers of their own works and thus focuses on the topic of the "composer-performer". The second concert event INSEL DER GLÜCKSELIGEN STREICHER (Island of the Happy String Players) features the Minguet Quartet. Compositions will be performed which, in the development of 20th century New Music, take on an island function, so to speak, due to their special nature and unique individuality. The third concert event is dedicated to the theme of INSELNAMEN (Island Names) and opens the door to worlds that spring from our imagination. Highlighted here are fairy tale or fantasy islands, such as Lummerland, as well as a focus on the notion of the island in itself. The fourth concert project provides a geographical perspective – SCHWEIZERINSEL (Swiss Island) featuring the percussion sextet Lugano Percussion Ensemble. Premiered in this concert will be works by both Swiss and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern composers. The fifth concert project is called WINDINSEL (Wind Island) and explores sonorities associated with wind by means of four saxophones. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation has made the concert series possible.

Due to the current situation and associated regulations, there may be changes at short notice.
