Kaleidoskop's 15th Anniversary

Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop, Berlin, Germany

2021 sees soloist ensemble Kaleidoskop celebrate its 15th anniversary when, in its core instrumentation of 12 string players, it will present "Dillon/Krauze/Coates", a juxtaposition of three complex and extremely rarely performed works.

Gloria Coates' 1st Symphony – Music on open strings (1973) is a work of intellectual and expressive power. The music brings together the familiar and the strange, the concise and the blurred, the tonal and the atonal – transporting listeners to musical landscapes that explode familiar listening experiences. Zygmunt Krauze's Aus aller Welt stammende (1973) is a work in four movements based on Polish folk melodies. The most important interpretive element in this composition is a folk style of playing whereby the musicians perform independently of each other and concentrate exclusively on their own part. Introitus (1989/90) is the eighth in a series of nine works begun by James Dillon in 1982 entitled Nine Rivers. Introitus represents an evolving and interlocking series of orchestrations. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation has made the ensemble's concerts possible.

Due to the current situation and associated regulations, there may be changes at short notice. For the latest information on the project please therefore check kaleidoskopmusik.de
