18th Edition of Tage der Neuen Musik Bamberg

Neue Musik in Bamberg, Germany

Wind instruments are the focus of Bamberg's 18th New Music Festival. Inspired by Eötvös' ensemble work Windsequenzen, the festival sees "wind instruments" as ones "whose sound is produced by air currents". The program thus centers on compositions for brass, woodwind, accordion and organ.

Invited as Ensemble-in-Residence is Ensemble Schwerpunkt which has dedicated itself exclusively to New Music with classical instrumentation as a brass quintet. Viera Janárčeková will compose a work for this ensemble to perform at the opening concert of the Tage der Neuen Musik Bamberg. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is funding the festival's Ensemble-in-Residence.
