Robert Walser and Music – Festival Rümlingen in Appenzell

Festival New Music Rümlingen, Switzerland

In the fall of 2021, a festival and symposium on the topic of Robert Walser and Music will be held over four days in Appenzell. Walser lived in Herisau for 23 years in a psychiatric institution, so musical-literary walks and strolls in Walser's footsteps are one focus of this festival; another is devoted to experimental music theater. The festival features premieres of Mycelium, a new adaptation of Georges Aperghis' Zeugen, Roland Moser's Die Europäerin, and Anda Kryeziu's music theater piece Tobold. At the symposium of the Walser Society – alongside lectures by Roman Brotbeck, Klaus Händl and Michel Roth – reference works on Walser's musical reception will also be recited. These compositions will be performed by Cologne's Ensemble Garage. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is facilitating this edition of the festival.

Due to the current situation and associated regulations, there may be changes at short notice. For the latest information on the project please therefore check neue-musik-ruemlingen.ch
