6th International Young Composers’ Academy in Tchaikovsky City. New Perspectives

ANO Centre for New Music Initiatives (ANO N.M.I. Centre), Moscow, Russia

The International Young Composers’ Academy is a well-known two-week workshop for young music professionals, artists and music critics from throughout the world. In 2016 the project is once again to receive the support of the EvS Music Foundation.
The guest lecturers at the academy are famous composers who will be holding individual courses and group lectures. In 2016 Oscar Bianchi from Italian Switzerland, Carola Bauckholt from Germany and Yann Robin from France are invited. Special guests include the composers Yannis Kyriakides, Christophe Staude, Helmut Zapf and Mikhail Smetanin.
The selected young composers will write new works to be performed in concluding concerts in Tchaikovsky, Perm and Moscow. Already throughout the academy numerous concerts will be held that will serve as a form of rehearsal. Furthermore, the musicians of the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (MCME) will be offering masterclasses for Russian and foreign artists.
In 2016 the academy is anticipating 120 participants including composers, musicians, musicologists, music critics and guest spectators from at least 25 countries. The aim of the project is to bring the experiences of leading European cultural institutes to Russia and to trigger a creative exchange between Russian composers/musicians and other countries.
