LPO Young Composers Program

London Philharmonic Orchestra, United Kingdom

For fifteen years now, the London Philharmonic's mentoring program has enabled five young composers to collaborate intensively and receive support. The mentor of the education program is Scottish composer and conductor Sir James MacMillan. The Young Composers Program is individually tailored to the participants, who are supported in their work in seminars and workshops. Creative experimentation with new impulses and ideas is encouraged by the mentor of the project and developed together with the orchestra. Lasting up to eight minutes each, the compositions will be premiered at the end of the program in a concluding concert. The young composers are accompanied over a period of one year enjoying first-class education and training, concerts and rehearsals of the LPO, and the opportunity to establish contacts with other artists and be involved in the further education programs of the orchestra. The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is funding the LPO Young Composers Program.
