“ … while birds flew in this or that direction as if heading for their various homes.” (Adalbert Stifter)
“Heimat und Identität in der Literatur” (Home and Identity in Literature) is the theme of the 2016 Literature Summer which KlangForum Heidelberg approaches from two directions: firstly via the musical language set to music and secondly on the path of remembrance, looking back from exile on the “homelands”.
In lectures and a panel discussion such figures as philosopher Enno Rudolph, composer Jan Kopp and theologian Georg Lämmlin will be exploring the context of intercultural migration, language, music and homeland.
Jan Kopp, along with Uruguay-born Alvaro Carlevaro, Israeli Bnaya Halperin-Kaddari, Palestinian Samir Odeh-Tamimi and Frankfurt’s Hannes Seidl, are among the five composers from different cultural backgrounds, whose new works for voice and instruments will be premiered. The compositions sponsored by the EvS Music Foundation reflect on homeland and intercultural migration setting literary texts to music.
