SAITEN-TASTEN / STRINGS-KEYS, Interior Studies for Piano

The SAITEN-TASTEN project has set itself the goal of increasing awareness about the playing techniques within the interior of the piano (without preparation). The Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation is supporting the further development and dissemination of piano playing inside the instrument. When discovering and elaborating the musical miniatures specially composed for this purpose piano orientation skills are to be activated and promoted since this aspect is little known and scarcely tested. To expand the multi-layered tonality and rich coloration of well-known piano sounds 21 short pieces are to be composed to aid the learning and application of these techniques. A detailed introduction into the problems of playing inside the piano is to accompany the works to be supplemented by a CD recording.
