Acht Kompositionsaufträge für's Jubiläumsjahr

Schallfeld is an international contemporary music ensemble based in Graz. The group is particularly focused on concert formats that deal creatively with the respective spatial conditions and open up a new dimension of listening. Schallfeld was founded in 2013 by alumni of Klangforum Wien.

With a comprehensive annual program in 2018 the Schallfeld ensemble will be celebrating its 5th anniversary: under the motto “Zwischen Himmel und Erde” (Between Heaven and Earth) it embarks upon a journey through ancient and modern myths, deals with animate and inanimate nature, man and machine, from minerals to the vast landscape of the human soul. However, heaven and earth are also intended as metaphors for the transformative power of art that always creates new levels of meaning out of mere matter. Seven of its own productions featuring numerous composition commissions over the course of the anniversary season each focus on one aspect of the annual theme and will be performed first in Graz followed by guest appearances at home and abroad. The EvS Music foundation is supporting the composition commissions issued to Anahita Abbasi, Zeno Baldi, Arturo Fuentes, Andrés Gutiérrez Martínez, Michelle Agnes Magalhaes, Lorenzo Romano, Jorge Sanchez-Chiong and Zesses Seglias.
